Even during his childhood days, Jarrett had a burning interest in storytelling and visuals. Making his first movie on 8mm film when he was 11 years old he discovered something that was to become a life long pursuit.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Augustana University College in 1995 he entered the film industry working in a camera rental house. This led to work on episodic television and feature films as a camera assistant. A trusted and skilled member of IATSE since 1997, Jarrett has honed his knowledge and work ethic enabling him to move through the ranks and establish himself as a camera operator in the union.
During breaks in work on dramatic productions Jarrett has pursued his creative passions as a Director of Photography. Over the years he has put his skills to use on many projects including music videos,title sequences for series,performing arts productions,short films and commercials.
In 2004 Jarrett received an Alberta Motion Picture Industry award for best cinematography in a Drama Under 60 minutes for the short film "Porcelain Tattoo" produced by Road Pictures. The short films "The Milk Crate Recovery Team" and "Everything's Falling" were both featured as finalists in the 2005 Best of Alberta showcase at the Calgary International Film Festival. Numerous performing arts projects have also been featured in the annual Bravofact! Screening at the High Performance Rodeo Festival. Jarrett's work can also be seen in the action sport TV series "Drop-In New Zealand" currently airing on CTV Sportsnet.
Jarrett is currently based in western Canada and enjoys snowboarding, photography, and travel. He is a member of IATSE local 669, International Photographers Guild and an associate member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC).
